Tintagel Castle

Tintagel Castle is a medieval fortification located on the peninsula of Tintagel Island in North Cornwall. Rumoured to be the legendary home to King Arthur, in reality the castle was built by Richard, 1st Earl of Cornwall in the 13th century and today is a spectacular, atmospheric ruin. The interesting fact is that the castle was split into two halves divided by a steep gorge which today has been joined together for the first time in 500 years by a footbridge. On the island, you will find a gift shop, cafe and information centre.
