Porthmeor Beach is popular with surfers and Porthminster Beach is the first of a string of golden beaches stretching along St Ives Bay. A mild climate, beautiful beaches and numerous cafes, bars and restaurants make St Ives an ideal spot for family holidays.
St Ives is much more than a beach resort. In addition to numerous craft shops and galleries are the Barbara Hepworth museum, the Tate Modern Gallery and the Bernard Leach Pottery which are all popular with tourists.
Tintagel Castle is a medieval fortification located on the peninsula of Tintagel Island adjacent to the village of Tintagel in North Cornwall. It was built by Richard, 1st Earl of Cornwall in the 13th century and has stood the test of time although today, the castle is largely in ruins. The interesting fact is that the castle was split into two halves divided by a steep gorge. Today, the castle has been joined together for the first time in 500 years by a footbridge. On the island, you will find a gift shop, cafe and information centre.
To gain access, you will need to pre-book your tickets with English Heritage which have set entrance times.
